Class Description: Make ‘em Laugh! Students will learn concepts and styles of comedy in this program that will have audiences in stitches!
Program Type: Our one-week programs focus on process over product. The theater skills gained will not only prepare them for a final showcase, but also prepare them for life! Students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process based on the theme of the class
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Location Information: The entire program will take place at Madison Youth Arts, 1055 East Mifflin Street. See Covid Procedures link below for Pick Up/Drop off procedures.
# of Students in Class: 10-15 students. There is 1 professional teaching artist and 1 Teaching Assistant Intern.
Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register.
Typical Daily Schedule:
9:15 – 9:30 Check In
9:30 – 10:00 Morning Warm ups/ Ensemble Games, Challenges
10:00 – 10:30 Workshop 1
10:30 – 11:00 Workshop 2
11:00 – 12:15 Games/ Character Creation/ Showcase Prep, etc.
12:15 – 12:30 Clean up, Close out, Acknowledgements
12:30 Dismissal
Final Class Sharing: We will hold a final sharing on the last day of the program. More info to come two weeks prior to class.
