Class Description: Expand your actor’s tool kit (voice, body, and imagination) in this skill building introduction to the art of acting!
Program Type: Our one-week programs focus on process over product. The theater skills gained will not only prepare them for a final showcase, but also prepare them for life! Students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process based on the theme of the class
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Location Information: The entire program will take place at Madison Youth Arts, 1055 East Mifflin Street. See Covid Procedures link below for Pick Up/Drop off procedures.
# of Students in Class: 10-15 students. There is 1 professional teaching artist and 1 Teaching Assistant Intern.
Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register though this program is tailored for beginners.
Typical Daily Schedule:
9:00 – 9:15 Check In
9:15 – 9:45 Morning Warm ups/ Ensemble Games, Challenges
9:45 – 10:15 Workshop 1
10:15 – 10:45 Workshop 2
10:45 – 11:00 Snack (no nuts)
11:00 – 12:00 Games/ Character Creation/ Showcase Prep, etc.
12:00 – 12:15 Clean up, Close out, Acknowledgements
12:15 Dismissal
Final Class Sharing: We will hold a final sharing on the last day of the program. More info to come two weeks prior to class.
