Class Description: Step into the world of 5 shows with 5 very different costuming styles. Learn the art of costume design and build costume pieces with a variety of techniques (without the use of a sewing machine) using materials found in your home.
Program Type: This one-week program is ideal for theater enthusiasts who want a more in-depth experience focusing on a particular aspect of theater. Students will:
- Design & implement those designs through the course of the week
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Log on Information: The Platforms used for this program are Google Classroom and Zoom. You will need an @gmail domain email to access the Google Classroom. Email education@ctmtheater.org if that is not an option for you.
# of Students in Class: 15-20 students. There is 1 professional teaching artist, 1 Teaching Assistant Intern, and 1 High School Intern.
Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register.
Typical Daily Schedule:
9:00 Log On
9:00 – 9:30 Morning Check In, Goal Setting, etc.
9:30 – 10:15 Ensemble building, Sharing Ideas, Getting to know the Group & Share projects after day 1
10:15 – 10:45 Introduction to the play of the day
10:45 – 10:50 Break
10:50 – 11:50 Costume Workshop/Master Class
11:50 – 12:00 Clean up, Acknowledgements, go over asynchronous projects
12:00 – Log Off
Final Class Sharing: We will hold a virtual final sharing on the last day of the program. More info to come two weeks prior to class.
