Class Description: Students will use the basics of acting (body, voice, and imagination) to embody a wide range of characters from silly to serious, old to young, and everything in between. Students will explore characters through the lens of different emotions and work with how to embody and express those emotions. Students can explore favorite, well known characters (from stories such as Inside Out, Harry Potter and the world of Disney) and characters of their own creation.


Program Type: While this program culminates in a sharing, it is rooted in process. Students will:
- Build dramatic, social and collaborative skills
- Explore emotions and character driven connections in a creative play-based setting
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process
- Use their creativity to build worlds, characters and interactions
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes

Pick Up/Drop Off Info: Pick up/Drop off at CI Therapies, Verona: 305 South Main Street. Parents are asked to stay on the first day for orientation and are invited on the last day to see the final sharing.

# of Students: 12 students. There is 1 professional theater teaching artist, 1 music therapist, 3+ occupational therapists and 3+ volunteers.

Experience Expectations: We welcome all students with special needs and/or disabilities and a sibling or friend to register.

Typical Daily Schedule:
8:45–9:00 Arrival and Check In
9:00–9:45 Warm ups/Skill building games
9:45- 10:00 Snacks and Regulation break
10:00–11:00 Character Building Drama
11:00 Dismissal
