Theme: In our Page to Stage class, students will learn the basics of acting (body, voice, and imagination) as well as storytelling (story structure, setting, etc.) to create and perform an original short play. Theater games and exercises will lead students through the collaborative process.
Class Description: Our Spotlight Series is for actors who want to explore a specific aspect of theater arts. This series is designed to offer students an acting class through a more focused lens.
Program Type: In this process based program, students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative process
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Class Location Information: Location TBD. This class will be held in downtown Madison, but not at the CTM Studio. In the past, classes have also been held at Austin Place (111 N. Fairchild Street) and Bethel Lutheran Church (312 Wisconsin Ave).
First Day Information: On the first day of the program, there will be a brief orientation for parents.
# of Students in Class: 13-15 students. There is 1 professional teaching artist.
Experience Expectations: This class is for students who would like to try acting for the first time as well as the students with some previous acting experience.
Final Sharing: March 14. Location is TBD, but will be in a downtown, accessible space. Family and friends welcome!
