Class Description:
And all that jazz! In the 1920s, two vaudevillian murderesses vie for the spotlight and the headlines. They join forces in search of the American Dream: fame, fortune, and acquittal. Featuring iconic songs such as “He Had It Comin’ ” & “Razzle Dazzle!”

Weekly Schedule:
WEEK 1 & 2:
• Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm (no class 7/4)
WEEK 3:
• MON-WED: 9am-7:30pm
• THURS: 9am arrival, show at 7pm
• FRI: 12pm arrival, Pizza Party, & stay through the show

Program Type: Summer Academy is an audition only training program for students dedicated to honing their craft & building ensemble in a professional environment. Students will:
- Experience an unparalleled immersion into acting
- Train in movement, dance, voice, and musical theater history
- Participate in daily workshops, visits from guest artists, and intensive rehearsals
- Perform in a full production at Overture Center

Pick Up/Drop Off Info: Henry Street entrance of Overture Center. Families will only need to park on the first day for orientation & the last day to see the final sharing.

# of Students: 25-30 students. Staff: 3 teaching artists, 1 Production Assistant, 3 Teaching Assistants & 1 high school intern (plus a design team & stage manager).

Experience Expectations: AUDITION ONLY PROGRAM.

Typical Daily Schedule:

9:30–10:30 Acting/Music/Dance Workshop
10:30–10:45 Snack
10:45–12 Master Class
12:00–12:30 Lunch
12:30–12:45 Refocus
12:45–1:45 Vocal Rehearsal
1:45–3:00 Choreography
3:00–4:45 Blocking Rehearsal
4:45–5:00 Acknowledgements
5:00 Dismissal

*PLEASE NOTE: The schedule for Week 3 is 9am-7:30pm

Final Performance: Thurs 7/11 & Fri 7/12 @ 7pm. Playhouse Theater, Overture Center. $8/ticket.

Additional Notes: Aftercare is NOT available for this program.

  • A notebook and pencil
  • A three-ring binder for the script
  • Please wear shoes that will stay on your feet (no flip flops/crocs) and clothes you can move in (no dresses). You can bring dance shoes along if you have them. Wear rehearsal sweats: you're going to be moving!
  • Please wear or bring layers (the temperature in the rooms can vary).
  • A costume designer will be working on your student’s production and will ask families to provide some costuming basics from home (ie: a shirt/pants).
