Class Description: Come join us for the summertime version of our popular studio class! Sing & dance your way through classic & contemporary show tunes, expand your knowledge of musical theater, & perform a medley on the final day of class!
Program Type: This two-week program is ideal for theater enthusiasts who want a more in depth experience focusing on a particular aspect of theater. Students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Pick Up/Drop Off Information: Pick up/Drop off at Madison Opera (335 W Mifflin St). Families will only need to park on the first day for orientation and the last day to see the final sharing.
# of Students in Class: 25-30 students. There are 2 professional teaching artists, 2 Teaching Assistant Interns & 1 High School Intern.
Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register.
Typical Daily Schedule:
8:45 – 9:00 Check In
9:00 – 10:00 Warm ups
10:00 – 10:15 Snack – We are a nut free camp!
10:15 – 10:55 Morning Rotation 1 - Singing (class splits in thirds)
10:55 – 11:35 Morning Rotation 2 – Acting (class splits in thirds)
11:35 – 12:15 Morning Rotation 3 – Movement/Dance (class splits in thirds)
12:15 – 12:45 Lunch
12:45 – 1:00 Refocus
1:00 – 2:00 Rehearsal, character creation, etc.
2:00 – 2:15 Afternoon Snack
2:15 – 3:15 Rehearsal, character creation, etc.
3:15 – 3:30 Clean-up, Acknowledgements
3:30 Dismissal
Final Showcase: July 19, 3:00pm, Playhouse Theater, Overture Center.
