Weekly Schedule:
WEEK 1: 9am-3:30pm
WEEK 2: 9am-5pm

Class Description: The death of an old buccaneer lands Jim Hawkins in an adventure as he follows a group of pirates in search of treasure. When Long John Silver plans a mutiny aboard the ship, it’s up to Jim to save the day!

Program Type: This 2 week program invites students to perform & create design elements as well! While the program culminates in a performance, it’s rooted in process. Students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process
- Design & build props, costume & set pieces
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes

Pick Up/Drop Off Info: Henry Street entrance of Overture Center. Families only need to park on the first day for a 15 minute orientation & the last day to see the final sharing.

# of Students: 25-30 students. Staff: 2 professional teaching artists, 2 Teaching Assistants & 1 High School Intern.

Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register.

Typical Daily Schedule:
8:45 – 9:00 Check In
9:00 – 10 Warm ups
10:00 – 10:15 Snack – We are a nut free camp!
10:15 – 11:00 Morning Rotation 1
11:00 – 11:45 Morning Rotation 2
11:45 – 12:00 Games
12:00 – 12:30 Lunch
12:30 – 12:45 Refocus
12:45 – 2:00 Rehearsal, prop/costume building, etc.
2:00 – 2:15 Afternoon Snack
2:15 – 3:15 Rehearsal, prop/costume building, etc.
3:15 – 3:30 Clean-up, Acknowledgements
3:30 Dismissal

PLEASE NOTE: Week 2 is 9am-5pm.

Final Showcase: August 23, 4:30pm, Playhouse Theater, Overture Center. Suggested donation $5.

  • A notebook and pencil
  • A three-ring binder for the script
  • Please wear shoes that will stay on your feet (no flip flops/crocs) and clothes you can move in (no dresses). You can bring dance shoes along if you have them. Wear rehearsal sweats: you're going to be moving!
  • Please wear or bring layers (the temperature in the rooms can vary).
  • Although we have a studio full of fun costume pieces, we may ask families to provide some basic items from home (ie: a shirt/pants) for the final performance.
